VNSECON '07 introduces the first CtF game in Vietnam, which will be attack only game. VNSECON '07 CtF challenges will be designed and organized by members of CTF Organization Team who have delivered successful CTF games at annual HITB Security Conference and Bellua Cyber Security Conference.

Each team will be expected to use their penetration and reverse engineering skills to attack against CtF game servers. Game server is configured with various of challenges and services. Participants are required to retrieve ‘flags’ from the game server in order to score points. Teams are allowed to attack each others. However all kind of denial of service attacks are not allowed.

 

Team

The maximum number of teams in VNSECON '07 CtF is 10. Each team can consist of a 1 (individual player) to MAXIMUM of 3 participants .

 

What you need to know

CtF game consists of multiple challenges at different difficult levels on both Windows and Linux platforms. Participants must have the following skills to be able to solve the challenges:

• Reverse Engineering
• Code Auditing
• Exploit Development

 

Participants can bring their own laptops. Besides, we arrange 1 PC for each team.

• Hardened GENTOO Linux 2006.1

 

Rules

• CtF game consists of 6 challenges of increasing difficulties.
• Team who are able to finish all challenges or the most challenges by the end of competition will be the winner
• After finishing each level, team should retrieve level’s flag and submit to the score server.
• Teams are allowed to attack each others. 
• All kind of denial of service attacks are not allowed. Any team found using denial of service attacks will be removed from the game immediately.
